LongSword

Our Gift To you

LS based kit car is in the works! After we decided to end the WRX kit car project, we started to see the problem from a new perspective. We learned from our mistakes and have now turned to LS engines and automatic transmissions. The car you see below is our new concept. The LongSword is a budget race car that absolutely RIPS!

This project has officially started! We now have a 5.3 LS and 4L60 trans. The rest of the parts are being collected right now! Please go to our social media pages to follow the build!

LongSword concept and stats

This project has one goal… Pure speed! From the lessons learned on previous projects and failures. We had a new perspective. What a performance race car could be, on a budget. This concept is simple all the way through. LS engine and 4 or 6 speed automatic with a solid rear axel. It’s mid engine and has a very short drive shaft to connect the trans to the rear axle. Rectangle and square tubes make up the vast majority of the frame in order to make construction fast and easy. LMP style body work made entirely of aluminum sheet metal. All surfaces are simple flats and curves to avoid any molds or special forming skills or tools. The front end will also be solid axel and will have very simple and minimal suspension. And that’s it. Windshield is optional and can be made with Lexan that’s cut and fitted to a subframe. The purpose of this project is to compete in open classes at first. Starting with GTA Unlimited and going from there. We have hopes and dreams of others building this car and racing with us. But what we would love to see is a new racing organization or adoption of our own specific class. This concept is very easy to build and is based on V8 engines and truck components like the transmission and rear axle. Lots of other donor trucks/suvs could be used and the body work could be changed with ease. Here are some specs as it is.

  1. Weight 2000 lbs possibly 2300 max with iron block engines and other heavy components.

  2. Horse Power from 350 whp but easily much more. We have the aluminum block 6.0 LS4 engine and 6L80 automatic transmission. It has been upgraded to a rec port heads and a CAM that puts us in the 400+whp range.

  3. Wheel base 144 inch. Depends on transmission.

  4. Track width of 80 inch with 11 inch wide tires. This can very depending on tire choice and rim offsets.

  5. Frontal area is about 1/2 that of a Ford Mustang GT.

With these figures it is clear the recipe for performance is here. Want to help this project come true? Grab some merch! The proceeds will go towards making this project a reality! And don’t forget we are always open source and design files and downloads will be made available when done.
